Jerry Bernhardt is the Principal of Bernhart Associates Executive Search LLC, which specializes in direct marketing and digital marketing placement. His firm also regularly conducts widely published surveys on marketing hiring trends. Lynn Hazan is the Principal of Lynn Hazan & Associates, which specializes in marketing, sales and communications placement. Both recruiters handle marketing placement throughout the U.S.

Creative staffing agency, The Creative Group, has released a study that finds high demand for creative professionals. 39 percent of marketing and advertising executives surveyed reported they’re looking to fill design or marketing roles in Q1 2013. Fifty-one percent of advertising executives shared that they plan on hiring, compared to 33% of marketers interviewed.

More Than Two-Thirds of Workers Seeking New Employment in 2013

A recently published study by Right Management finds that, for the fourth year, the majority of U.S. and Canadian workers intend to pursue new employment during 2013. Eighty-six percent of employees polled stated their intentions to actively look for a new position outiside their current firm during 2013. Eight percent indicated they may do so and are already actively networking in pursuit of finding their next job.

New Study Indicates Average 2013 Raises for Marketing and Creative Professionals
A recently released study conducted by the Creative Group found that starting salaries for marketing and creative professionals are expected to rise an average of 3.5% in 2013. Positions expected to see the greatest gains in base compensation include: interactive creative directors, interaction designers and mobile designers.
"The growth of online, mobile and social media content has created strong demand for professionals with digital expertise. In fact, many companies and agencies are creating new interactive positions and can't seem to fill them fast enough given the shortage of available skilled talent," said Donna Farrugia, executive director of The Creative Group. "As a result, compensation increases for many digital roles are expected to exceed the industry average."

Robert Half / The Creative Group Salary Guides Reveal Tech And Creative Positions With Growing Starting Salaries
A new study conducted by recruter, Robert Half found six areas of job growth, high demand with above average salary increases projected for 2013. According to their recently released 2013 Salary Guides, a number of positions in the information technology (IT) and creative fields are expected to see above-average salary gains in the coming year.
"Salaries are rising for candidates who can help organizations leverage new technologies to increase efficiencies, gain business insights and produce superior customer experiences," said John Reed, senior executive director of Robert Half Technology and The Creative Group. "In some cases, there's a shortage of individuals available to fill these highly specialized positions, which is driving up starting compensation levels."
